User Centred Design
The primary failure of many website platforms is information architecture.
Often, navigation is poor, find-ability of content is limited, naming conventions vary wildly…visitors are lost in this way. Employing a strong information architecture strategy greatly supports the technical implementation of the solution for back end development and provides a certain amount of flexibility on the front end.
Using a combination of data from the research and research and exploration of existing platforms, we would develop a structure for the website, identifying the most suitable data structure and navigation scheme.
Once we have a strategy, we can then evolve user personas and demonstrate how they would use the various mechanisms on the site, which areas of content would most suit their needs and work with feature concepts that they may want to use. This would form a primary evolution of visual wireframes demonstrating page layout.

YouReportTV.com
With the rapidly increasing number of public contributions to national and local news, YouReportTV has launched the world’s first people’s news site, featuring news generated entirely by the community.
Launched on the 1st April 2008, YouReportTV enables consumers to immediately broadcast news items that are of interest to their peers and the wider community. News can be uploaded by mobile device, digital camera, webcam or camcorder and can include videos, text copy and photos.
In addition to news stories, YouReportTV also offers community focused categories including Whistle Blowers to highlight unfair work and local issues, local traffic and travel updates and a dedicated Missing Persons section.
Brief
Our mission, which we chose to accept, was to take YouReportTV from concept to reality.
Pain Points
The thing is, apart from the concept itself, our client had nothing – No idea how the site should look, no understanding of the technical issues, no real business plan…but they had passion and a drive to make the thing happen
Our “cunning plan”
This is exactly where we started, with a cunning plan. We mentally put ourselves in the position of the founders and drew up a comprehensive business plan, including commercial model, revenue streams, target user research and marketing strategy. All of this was essential in helping us to understand the nature of their typical user and the core objectives of the site – armed with this knowledge we formulated a site design plan
